Client Coordinator

Pets have been a part of Denise’s family ever since she was a child, and she’s adored animals for as long as she can remember. Being able to serve as a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves is Denise’s dream come true! She’s able to do that on a daily basis here at Knoll Animal Hospital.

Born in Chicago, Denise was raised in Bellwood and was still a teenager when she stumbled across a job opportunity at a local animal hospital. That launched a journey that hasn’t let up since. In total, Denise has worked in veterinary medicine for more than a decade, and has been a member of the Knoll Animal Hospital family since 2012.

Denise is a proud grandmother, and much of her free time is spent enjoying her grandson and gardening in her backyard. She shares her life with two Yorkie-Poos: Lexi, a rescue who enjoys spending most of her days eating; and the aging Rocco, who still acts like he’s a puppy and insists on playing fetch at 6:00 a.m. every morning.

Client Coordinator

Gayle has been a pet owner herself for many years—she knows firsthand the importance of our animal companions’ love and loyalty. When the opportunity arose for her to work hands-on with pets in the veterinary field, she jumped at the chance! Now, Gayle has been helping pets and their owners as a veterinary professional for more than 25 years.

Gayle entered the veterinary world shortly after her children left home for school—she brought her cat to a local vet’s office for a routine checkup, and the receptionist there jokingly asked if Gayle was looking for a job. Gayle responded with an emphatic “yes,” and she was hired on the spot! She’s been working as a receptionist, Veterinary Assistant, and Veterinary Technician ever since, and was happy to join Knoll Animal Hospital’s front-desk team in March of 2017.

In her spare time, Gayle can be found completing DIY projects at home, enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren, and doting on her own pets. She has four animal companions of her own at home: Fred, a rescued Manchester Terrier; Tessa the Golden Retriever, a certified therapy dog who uses her talents to benefit others at special education classes and nursing homes; a cat named Baxter who spends most of his time bossing around the dogs; and a 26-year-old turtle who goes by Kimberly.

Head Veterinary Technician

Paulina grew up in Franklin Park with her parents and little brother. Shortly after high school, she enrolled in the Vet Tech Institute at Fox College in Tinley Park, graduating in May of 2012 and passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam later that year to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.

Paulina then transitioned from her job at a nearby animal hospital to a clinic in Lombard, where she first met Dr. Knoll. When Dr. Knoll decided to open her very own hospital, Paulina jumped at the chance to join forces! She’s been a member of the Knoll Animal Hospital team since the summer of 2015.

Away from work, Paulina enjoys gardening, crafting, bicycling, swimming, entertaining, and working on construction and interior design projects around her home. She lives in Melrose Park with her longtime boyfriend, Bill, and several pets. They share their lives with three dogs—Pogo, Daisy, and Meaty—as well as a pair of cats who go by Micah and Ophelia.

Veterinary Assistant

Ashley has felt drawn to the earth’s creatures her entire life, and began volunteering at animal shelters at a very young age. Her fascination with medicine also blossomed during her early childhood years. For Ashley, combining her love for animals with her interest in the medical field was a perfect pairing—she’s proud to now serve as one of Knoll Animal Hospital’s Veterinary Assistants!

Ashley was born in Clarendon Hills, Illinois but grew up in Los Angeles, California. Her journey in veterinary care began when she signed on at a therapeutic riding stable, where she tended to farm animals and mucked stalls. After four years spent there, she took a job as a receptionist at a local animal hospital before becoming an overnight emergency Veterinary Technician.

Ashley was happy to return to daytime small-animal care here at Knoll Animal Hospital in February of 2017. Around the clinic, she likes critical care work and the fast-paced nature of her job. Ashley also loves to interact one-on-one with the area’s pets and animal owners, forming lasting connections with the area’s families.

When she isn’t tending to pets’ needs here at the hospital, Ashley enjoys writing, horseback riding (she’s been riding since she was only four years old!), and spending time with her family at home. She and her boyfriend, Bill, share their lives with two dogs and a guinea pig. Roxanne is a Boxer mix who was adopted from a shelter in Miami during Ashley’s brief residence there; Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Bichon Poodle mix, was adopted from Chicago; and Crowley the guinea pig loves cuddling and eating bananas.

Veterinary Assistant

Megan grew up in the Lombard area, where she loved being around animals of all sorts ever since she was a little girl. For her, working in the world of veterinary medicine allows her to give something back to the pets who have given her so much! Megan proudly serves as a Veterinary Assistant with the Knoll Animal Hospital team.

Megan first joined the clinic family as a receptionist in November of 2016. It wasn’t long before she decided that she would like to take on a more hands-on role dealing one-on-one with patients—she began working closely with Dr. Knoll and now helps pets as a Veterinary Assistant! Megan loves learning new techniques on a regular basis, and her favorite part of the job is forming relationships with her patients and their loving owners.

At home, Megan has two dogs of her own: Gracie, a Shepherd/Boxer mix whose favorite pastimes include playing with her ball and staring out the living-room window at passersby; and a Foxhound/Beagle mix named Zoey who enjoys spending time outdoors digging for insects and exercising.

Much of Megan’s free time away from work is spent running her own small business. She creates and sells custom dog-collar bows—her handiwork is available for purchase here at the hospital!—as well as baby headbands, hair bows, and paintings.

Veterinary Assistant

Shelby hails from a family full of nurses, and she’s always had a passion for the sciences. Coupled with her lifelong love for animals, a career spent caring for animals in the veterinary world simply makes sense! Shelby is proud to help the area’s pets and animal owners as one of Knoll Animal Hospital’s front-desk receptionists.

Shelby is from Glendale Heights and first launched her veterinary journey by signing on as a receptionist at another nearby clinic. She started here at Knoll Animal Hospital in May of 2016 while on a summer break from her studies in biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Thanks to her personal fascination with cell biology and animal physiology, Shelby particularly likes working in the laboratory and examining slides. Most of all, she loves getting to meet a wide variety of animal personalities on a regular basis.

When time permits between her busy school schedule and her shifts here at the hospital, Shelby enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Jason, and her two dogs: Higgins can tear apart any toy in mere seconds, and Bella can find something to bark at no matter the situation.
