7 Reasons to Be Thankful for Cats

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We are definitely very grateful for our feline friends. As it turns out, Fluffy is much more than a furry, four-legged roommate. She’s also a very loyal and loving companion. In fact, kitties may very well be the purrfect pets. Here, a Glen Ellyn, IL vet lists some reasons to be grateful for these little furballs.

Cuddles

One could very well argue that cats are specifically made to be cuddled. They’re just the right size to fit into our laps, they’re soft and cuddly, and they just have a way of relaxing us and making us smile.

Entertainment

Our feline pals may be cute, cuddly little furballs, but they’re also fierce predators in the wild. These two aspects of Fluffy’s ‘purrsonality’ make a unique, fascinating, and highly entertaining mix. Kitties definitely keep us amused!

Independence

Another thing we love about cats? They’re quite independent. (In fact, one study suggested that our feline overlords really don’t need us. They just like being pampered. Regardless of how true that is, we do know that kitties are quite self-sufficient. They groom themselves, and will use a litterbox to see to their needs. That makes them really easy keepers, which is something that we definitely appreciate.

Purrs

Fluffy’s soothing purr is a great source of comfort on a bad day. It’s also a pretty good sleep aid! Plus, kitties actually vibrate with happiness when you pet them. How cute is that?

Inspiration

If we know one thing about cats, it’s that they live by their own rules. Fluffy can actually be a source of inspiration. Specifically, your cute pet is a great reminder to relax, get plenty of rest, and just have fun.

Mousing Abilities

Okay, this one isn’t quite as popular as it once was. However, in the past, people really treasured Fluffy’s mousing prowess. Cats helped keep our barns and homes free of vermin.

Love

Kitties have tried very hard to build up a reputation for being cold and aloof. However, that really isn’t accurate. Many cats are extremely loving and affectionate, and just want to be held and petted. It’s impossible to mistake Fluffy’s cuddles for anything other than love.
